YOUNG CINEMA: THE PHILIPPINES’ BEST

Young Cinema will showcase the best films by young Filipino filmmakers on December 21, 2013 at SM Aura Directors’ Cinema, Taguig City. Young Cinema has been one of the highlights of the festival as it provides a platform for young Filipino filmmakers to pursue their passion in filmmaking.

Six diverse short films are competing for the ‘Best Short Film’ and the Ishmael Bernal Award for Most Outstanding Young Filipino Filmmaker. Another 9 exceptional short films are screened under the Exhibition Section.

“OSCARS” IS COMING TO TOWN

PRESS RELEASE – December 11, 2013

Makati City, Ph- The Cinemanila International Film Festival presented by the City of Taguig, the Cinemanila International Film Festival Foundation and SM Aura Premier, is strengthening its role in bringing World Cinema to the Philippines and Philippine Cinema to the World as it premieres not only award-winning films from the Cannes Festival and Berlin International Film Festival,  but also several contenders for the upcoming 86th Academy Awards. Cinemanila 2013 aims to bring the spirit of Oscar among Filipino and Asian filmmakers to get a glimpse of the Oscar trend hoping to share a wider and broader perspective of World Cinema.

Films vying for slots in Oscar  include Ilo-ilo (Singapore), Neigboring Sound (Brazil), The Missing Picture (Cambodia), In Bloom (Georgia), Winter of Discontent (Egypt), Heli (Mexico),  The Rocket (Australia), The Great Beauty (Italy) and our very own, Transit (Philippines).

The Cinemanila International Film Festival will run on December 18-22, 2013 at SM Aura Cinema Premiere, Taguig City. Screening schedules and ticket price will be announced ASAP.

CINEMANILA 2013 ANNOUNCES DIRECTOR KIM BYEONG-WOO’s ATTENDANCE

Makati City, PH- Cinemanila International Film Festival 2013 presented by the City of Taguig, SM Aura Premier and the Cinemanila International Film Foundation, proudly announces Korean box-office hit Director Kim Byeong-woo’s attendance on the screening of his film, “The Terror, Live”. Kim Byeong-woo
Kim  majored in Film Directing at HanYang Univ. Anamorphic(2003) was his first feature film which was screened at PiFan2003 and SIFF2003. His second feature film Written(2007) was screened at various film festivals such as Stockholm Film Festival and São Paulo Film Festival.  Known to be critically and commercially successful, “The Terror, Live” will open the festival screening on December 18, 2013 at SM Aura Cinema Premier.
